Lighting for indoor basketball courts follows the EN 12193: 2018 standard, where factors such as illuminance, uniformity and glare index are key considerations, depending on the level of play and usage requirements. The client required the ultimate in indoor basketball court lighting, with an illuminance level of 300lux and a glare value of less than 35. We recommended a 240 watt UFO factory light with a carefully designed shade, a solution that not only increased illumination to 500lux, significantly exceeding the requirement, but also virtually eliminated glare. The client was very pleased with the results of this upgrade, which provided a superior visual experience for basketball games and practices, demonstrating how venue upgrades can be accomplished with intelligent lighting solutions that meet customer needs.
